This cuneiform inscription is the earliest-known written appearance of the word "freedom" (amagi), or "liberty." It is taken from a clay document written about 2300 B.C. in the Sumerian city-state of Lagash. John
Locke wrote that the role of the government should be limited to preserving
man’s god given rights to life, liberty, and property. It is on
these three pillars that our founding fathers build the greatest most
prosperous nation in history. These three pillars have been assaulted
and eroded for the past century, and especially for the past thirty years.
Many politicians give lip service to liberty, praising the men who fight
for freedom while passing more and more legislations which chip away that
same freedom. Our government has imposed itself on the people with seatbelt
laws, smoking bans on private property, dictating the fairness of contracts
to which it isn’t a party, and is now even trying to regulate what
we eat. The time has come to reverse this trend and stand up for the right
to life, liberty and property. If I am elected I will stand as a voice
for Life, for Liberty, and for Property.
